Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho (GSEWNI) is looking for a part-time Adult Education Specialist - in the Spokane and Tri-Cities areas.

GSEWNI is a non-profit organization. The GSEWNI council serves an area comprised of 19 counties in central and eastern Washington, and 10 counties in northern Idaho for a total of 29 counties covering 67,000 square miles. The council is headquartered in Spokane, Washington and has regional field staff located in the Tri-Cities, Washington and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. GSEWNI serves approximately 4,000 girls in kindergarten through 12th grade with the help of 2,000 dedicated adult volunteers. Girls are at the center of everything we do as a council. Girl Scouts is the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, the leading authority on girls’ healthy development and we are working daily with girls and women to transform the leadership landscape for girls into the next century

$20 per hr. / 20+ hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Adult Education Specialist is responsible for coordinating and implementing training and advising and facilitating committees to support the national program delivery for Girl Scouts. They will work closely with volunteers, troops, and girls to ensure alignment of activities and that program goals are being achieved by girls and volunteers are receiving adequate and current required trainings. This position requires excellent time management skills and someone able to prioritize their workday while displaying excellent customer service skills.
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

  • Leadership Training
  1. Provides training and program implementation for girls to earn the Leadership Awards within their age appropriate program levels.
  2. Coordinates opportunities for girls to use their leadership training to support troops, service units and council events.
  • Troop/Service Unit Program
  •  Acts as the liaison for Troops and Service Units to access support and services of the Council in support of program and activity implementation in local area regions.
  • Volunteer Training
  1. Provides direction and oversight for the Adult Education Committee and council volunteer training team.
  2. Oversees all supplemental training efforts for volunteers in order to enhance their skills for delivery of Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) program.
  3. Creates curriculum for trainings and ensures all trainings are current and relevant.
  • Utilizes the council Customer Relations Management system to track and document communications with constituents, volunteer training, higher awards and program activities.
  • Works closely with Marcom to ensure calendar and website are current and accurate with available trainings and relevant information
  • Collaborates with and oversees Council Operating Volunteers within specific areas of program delivery to provide volunteer led service in support of GSLE program delivery.
  • Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
  • Promotes and assists with Council wide programs, activities, public relations and fund development endeavors.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant course of study, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and insurability required.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Available for weekend/evening work; Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates; several weekend and evenings required.
  • Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish language desired.
  • Must be experienced in the use of computers, including word processing, Outlook, spreadsheets, and the internet. Must be able to compile information and develop related reports, using council software.
  • Must possess computer literacy in all Microsoft Office Products; including the understanding of Adobe products, website and CRM software programs such as SalesForce.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout movement, including acceptance of the Girl
  • Scout philosophy and willingness to maintain membership in the Girl Scouts USA.
Physical Abilities:

• Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to:
            walk, climb stairs, sit, stand, stoop, bend, grasp;
  • utilize verbal and written communication to exchange information;
  • operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard;
