Associated Industries has an exciting opportunity for a new employee to join our team! Associated Industries offers employment advisory services including HR and legal support to small and mid-sized employers throughout the Northwest. Our current opening is for a Senior HR Generalist. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a generalist capacity with experience such as employee relations, policy development, FMLA and ADA administration, performance management, training development, and recruitment.

Sr. HR Generalist responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, recommending and updating member employment handbooks, policies, procedures and HR templates with guidance from the A.I. HR team
  • Assisting with auditing of member employment policies, practices and procedures
  • Providing guidance to members on matters related to FMLA, Workers Compensation and ADA
  • Making recommendations for modifications to member employment policies, practices and procedures
  • Creating and updating member performance review instruments
  • Providing guidance to members on employee performance and conflict management issues
  • Assisting with compensation reviews and development projects through research and interviews
  • Generating employee surveys related to exit interviews and providing results to managers and owners of the member company
  • Developing job descriptions
  • Performing phone and in-person interviews and aiding in completing the selection process
  • Assisting with client investigations
  • May perform and facilitate training on HR related topics
  • Responding to member inquiries with regard to HR questions
  • Assessing information obtained from members to determine if it is a legal based inquiry and working with attorneys to respond to members
  • Researching and deriving information from multiple sources to respond to member inquiries
  • May perform affirmative action plan preparation and provide audit assistance
  • Researching and providing content for member communication (newsletters & emails)
  • Providing on-site HR services to members
  • Performing special projects for members


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in human resources and business operations in the state of Washington
  • An understanding of FMLA, ADA, FLSA and ERISA
  • An understanding of human resources theory and best practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of the members and the Association’s information
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work professionally within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be an advocate in the community for Human Resources and A.I. in general 
  • Possession of a valid drivers’ license and state required insurance coverage
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Proven team player
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with an HRIS system preferred
