Description

Actively seeking a Human Resources Advisor to provide human resources services to members in conjunction with the Associated Industries Legal Team. Delivers high level customer service to all members and internal staff.

 

KEY or ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Provides human resources consultation services to members as established by the Association, including, but not limited to:

  • Reviews, recommends and updates member employment handbooks, policies, procedures and HR templates;

  • Performs audits of employment policies, practices and procedures;

  • Provides guidance to members on matters related to FMLA, Workers Compensation and ADA;

  • Develops, updates and amends employment policies, practices and procedures;

  • Creates updates and amends performance review instruments;

  • Provides guidance on employee performance and conflict management issues;

  • Performs compensation reviews and development projects through research and interviews;

  • Conducts employee surveys and provides results to managers and owners and feedback to survey participants;

  • Develops job descriptions;

  • Manages the recruitment strategy, interview and selection process;

  • May develop, perform and facilitate training on human resource related topics;

  • Performs investigations.

  • Responds to member inquiries regarding HR questions

  • Assesses information obtained from members to determine if it is a legal based inquiry, if so, work with attorneys to get the inquiry addressed

  • Researches and derives information from multiple sources to respond to member inquiries

  • Performs affirmative action plan preparation and provides audit assistance and training to members

  • Research and provide content for member communication (newsletters & emails)

  • Provides on-site HR services to members

  • Performs special projects for members

  • Responsible for providing income generating services to members

 

Internal

Assists with maintaining, updating and creating new job descriptions when necessary for employees of the Association

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Serves as an ambassador for Associated Industries in the community

  • Assists with annual meetings, membership events, and other programs

  • Provides assistance to other departments as necessary

  • Continuously improves services offered to add member value

  • Remains flexible to handle priorities as they arise

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP highly desirable

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in human resources and business operations in the state of Washington desired

  • A working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA and ERISA

  • Understand and consistently maintain a knowledge of human resources theory and best practices

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of member and the Association information

  • Proven ability to build respectful working relationships with employees across multiple levels of an organization large and small

  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • High degree of personal initiative

  • Superior customer service skills

  • Ability to work professionally within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to be an advocate in the community for Human Resources and A.I. in general

  • Possession of a valid drivers’ license and state required insurance coverage

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule

  • Proven team player
