Description

Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho (GSEWNI) is looking for a full-time Regional Membership Manager for the Tri-Cities area.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Membership Manager is responsible for the growth and retention of adult volunteers and girl membership in assigned areas. The Regional Membership Manager develops, coordinates and executes recruiting strategies, including various community and school events, to increase awareness and participation in Girl Scouts. This position works cross-functionally with other departments to ensure achievement of the goals of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. This role oversees the girl and adult volunteer participation and community partnerships through community cultivation, lead generation, and follow-up.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:

General Duties

  • Assists in achieving the council’s corporate goals for girl and adult membership through developing and implementing local and national membership strategies in assigned areas.
  • Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
  • Seeks opportunities and keeps in contact with community organizations, corporations, schools and educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouting.
  • Works interdepartmentally to ensure Council goals are met.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and takes initiative; is flexible, adaptable, self-managed, organized, and has a strong attention to detail.
  • Engages in professional, and/or leadership development via webinars, books, trainings or other opportunities.
  • Attends all regular staff meetings, team meetings, and other staff meetings when requested or assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Membership Retention

  • Mentors adult volunteers to work with girls in assigned program-grade level to ensure delivery of programs and services to girls.
  • Works with cross-functional team to determine or develop innovative strategies to ensure effective support of troop leaders and program-grade levels within service units.
  • Monitors and provides support for problem solving and conflict resolution in a timely manner.
  • Creates, implements and evaluates techniques to ensure the effective delivery of Girl Scout program within troops.
  • Mentors Service Unit leadership to assess training needs and fulfillment of defined roles that will increase membership, retention and quality program delivery.
  • Prepares and reviews a variety of status reports, including membership development, troop rosters, weekly activity reports, team status reports and others as assigned.
  • Utilizes membership management system to ensure all records provide complete history for each member.
  • Support Service Unit Leadership Team with program delivery, monthly correspondence, conflict resolution, training and meeting attendance as needed.
  • Assists with the identification of council delegates.

Membership Recruitment

  • Designs and/ or implements a comprehensive plan for girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data, membership trends, and other pertinent information relevant to designated geographic areas.
  • Organizes recruitment events for area External Recruiters
  • Implements membership recruiting marketing strategies outlined in the council’s strategic plan, annual business plan and/or other council goals through cultivation and organization of communities to generate increased girl and volunteer leads.
  • Prepares action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made in order to meet membership goal; prepares a variety of status reports, including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
  • Cultivates relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support recruitment efforts within targeted areas to positively impact membership growth.
  • Follows up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity in a timely fashion; demonstrates confidence to prepare for conversations and visits with potential members/customers by gathering key information and setting strong objectives to achieve successful outcome.
  • Works with cross-functional team to determine or develop innovative techniques to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment strategies.
  • Promotes and assists with Council wide programs, activities, public relations and fund development endeavors including United Way.
  • Skillfully uses a variety of questions and other active listening techniques to promote a robust discussion with members/customers and identify needs.
  • Understands the sales process and management of leads. Sets ambitious goals and energetically and confidently drives to achieve those goals. Recognizes opportunities to “close” and has demonstrated ability to ask for the business/customer transaction.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalents education and work experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
  • Available for weekend/evening work.
  • Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish languages preferred
  • Must be experienced in the use of computers, including word processing, Outlook, spreadsheets, and the internet. Must be able to compile information and develop related reports, using council software.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout movement, including acceptance of the Girl Scout philosophy and willingness to maintain membership in the Girl Scouts USA.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

Occasionally lift objects up 30 pounds, repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Rarely climb, pull, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist and crouch. Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time and work in inclement weather. Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses and differentiate between colors (no color blindness). Driving a vehicle is a requirement of this position.

  • Multi-Tasking Ability: ability to handle many diverse tasks/projects at one time; ability to prioritize and complete them on time.

Work Environment:

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee works remotely from their home environment and travels locally to meet council members and attend community events. Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment is an integral part of this position, as is the ability to work with high-stress situations based on the nature of GSEWNI mission and daily work.
