Associated Industries has an exciting opportunity for a new employee to join our team! Associated Industries offers employment advisory services including HR and legal support to small and mid-sized employers throughout the Northwest. Our current opening is for an HR Advisor. If you enjoy being involved in multiple facets of HR, this is the job for you. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a generalist capacity with experience such as employee relations, policy development, FMLA and ADA administration, performance management, training development, and recruitment.


HR Advisor responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing, recommending and updating member employment handbooks, policies, procedures and HR templates
  • Performing audits of member employment policies, practices and procedures
  • Providing guidance to members on matters related to FMLA, Workers Compensation and ADA
  • Developing, updating and amending employment policies, practices and procedures
  • Creating and updating performance review instruments
  • Providing guidance to members on employee performance and conflict management issues
  • Performing compensation reviews and development projects through research and interviews
  • Conducting employee surveys and providing results to managers and owners and feedback to survey participants
  • Developing job descriptions
  • Managing the recruitment strategy, interview and selection process
  • Performing phone and in-person interviews
  • Developing, performing and facilitating training on human resource related topics
  • Performing investigations
  • Responding to member inquiries with regard to HR questions
  • Assessing information obtained from members to determine if it is a legal based inquiry and working with attorneys to get the inquiry addressed
  • Researching and deriving information from multiple sources to respond to member inquiries
  • Performing affirmative action plan preparation and providing audit assistance and training to members
  • Providing on-site HR services to members
  • Performing special projects for members
  • Responsible for providing income generating services to members



  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field
  • PHR or SHRM-CP highly desirable
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in human resources and business operations in the state of Washington
  • A working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, FLSA and ERISA
  • Understand and consistently maintain a knowledge of human resources theory and best practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of member and the Association information
  • Proven ability to build respectful working relationships with employees across multiple levels of an organization large and small
  • Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of personal initiative
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to work professionally within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be an advocate in the community for Human Resources and A.I. in general 
  • Possession of a valid drivers’ license and state required insurance coverage
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
