Girls Scouts of Eastern Washington & Northern Idaho is looking for a CIT Leadership Assistant for beautiful Camp Four Echoes, summer resident camp 2021 - Approximately $3,190.00 plus room and board for the Camp Season.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho has been serving girls since 1937. Our Resident Camp operates at Camp Four Echoes, a council-owned property of over 200 acres near Worley, ID. Over 500 girls each summer ages 5-17 enjoy programs in STEM, arts and crafts, cooking, drama, swimming, boating, hiking, and other skill-building fun. Each session, girls lead the way by planning their own activities with their camper group. Each week has a theme and campers plan activities and meals related to that theme. Camp Four Echoes, a girl scout camp, is located on the wooded shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Six living units house 18-24 girls weekly. Each unit has flush toilets and running water, but no electricity. Meals are provided in a group setting in our central dining hall. We also have a staff lounge for your time off.

All staff live on-site June 9 - August 16 for the 2021 Camp Season - *Dates subject to change according to position.


Under the direction of the Leadership Director, the CIT Leadership Assistant is responsible for assisting to implement the Counselor-in-Training programs. These programs consist of mentoring current campers in preparation for future camp counseling opportunities that involve all aspects of leading a team to plan, lead, and implement outdoor camp programs, trips, activities, and experiences for girls ages 5-17 for an assigned group of campers. This position is also accountable for the general safety and empowering the personal growth and skill development of the participants in their group. The CIT Leadership Assistant exhibits enthusiasm and patience while exemplifying the Girl Scout core values of honesty, caring, courage, and character.



  • Attends to safety of campers (CITs) at all times; follows and instructs campers on procedures for incidents and emergencies
  • Leads a team, supervise up to 12 campers (CITs) as a group during for 10-21 days, coordinating the group’s schedule and leadership activities
  • Develop and implement curriculum for CITs along with the CIT Leadership Director
  • Support Junior Counselors as needed with weekly check-ins
  • Develop leaders out of CITs and work on retention with Leadership Director.
  • Works to create a positive group culture through team-building and problem-solving activities
  • Ensures weekly age-appropriate programming requirements primarily in leadership, but also in STEM, art, cooking, hiking, waterfront, etc. are met through daily activities and weekly trips
  • Teaches and encourages campers to progress in independent and group living skills such as personal hygiene, taking care of personal belongings, rolling sleeping bags, re-packing luggage, cabin clean-up and other camp jobs
  • Plans, prepares, and implements leadership programming and curriculum based on GSUSA guidelines and using the current staff training model as a guideline.
  • Models how to engage all campers in games, crafts, or other activities at all times (including during the girls’ down time, meals, all-camp activities, clean-up, etc.)
  • Attends all meals with campers in the dining hall or during cook-outs. Teaches and models table manners, appropriate meal conversation and positive social interactions

  • Models and instructs on personal responsibilities such as conflict management, positive relationships, following rules, and respecting camp property
  • Follows and implements appropriate behavior management procedures with all campers. Supports Unit Staff to increase their skills and assist with challenging camper behavior that may present itself
  • Completes and submits all paperwork in a timely and efficient manner, encouraging Unit Leaders to do the same
  • Exhibits punctuality and communication in time management, including daily and weekly breaks
  • Respects and follows the “Camp is for the camper” philosophy by attending to camper, staff and camp needs first
  • Represents camp appropriately in the community and with parents by maintaining personal hygiene, following camp dress code, and communicating respectfully with campers, parents and other adults.
  • Actively participates in staff trainings, meetings, and camp closing activities, including but not limited to deep cleaning, lifting or moving equipment, taking out trash and closing inventory
  • Reports concerns and incidents to Unit Director.
  • Practices the Girl Scout Promise and Law with an inclusive attitude and a willingness to problem-solve
  • Attends weekly scheduling meetings
  • Follows all procedures and regulations according to the GSEWNI Council, GSUSA, and state and federal guidelines and laws and the American Camp Association
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Must be 21 years or older


  • Current First Aid & CPR certification
  • One (1) year experience working with girls ages 5-17 through camp, day care, or teaching.
  • One (1) year experience in a supervisory role and demonstrates the ability to supervise other staff members, including giving appropriate feedback, providing a positive role model and addressing challenges quickly and professionally
  • Ability to grasp the landscape within an organization, show passion for working with Girl Scouts and the nonprofit environment and expertise in using various communication vehicles that engage girls, volunteers, parents, donors and the community
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurability required
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Willingness to subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout movement, including acceptance of the Girl Scout philosophy and willingness to maintain membership in the Girl Scouts USA

Work Environment:

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee lives for up to 12 weeks in close proximity to others, including sharing living quarters, restrooms, laundry facilities and a common staff lounge. May only use personal electronics (such as computers, phones and other devices) only during personal designated breaks and out of sight of campers. Multi-tasking in a fast paced environment is an integral part of this position, as is the ability to work with high-stress situations based on the nature of GSEWNI mission and daily work.
